The Doorway of Death

What if death was a doorway….and we knew where it led?

The “death penalty” is probably the most fearsome punishment that exists today. Recent advancements in the way it is meted out has brought about ways to mitigate the pain associated with it. This helps the us….the people who try to come to terms with the fact that we as a society are killing off one of our own. However, does it really help them…. the victims whose victimization is justified because they were a ‘perpetrator’ at a given point?

The unknown, the nothingness to which someone is pushed forcibly, continues to generate the same fear it has since humans came into existence.

But what if that unknown was known. What if we knew what awaited us after death and what if it was not nothingness. What if it was just another existence. I say “just” here to reflect how we treat our own existence now (which, ironically, becomes most treasured usually when one faces the end of it). What if death was like being unplugged from the Matrix? Would that make death sometimes feel better than life? Like traversing into a more meaningful experience.

And then, how would the death “penalty” sound, if death were a doorway to a place in another existence. Wouldn’t that take the sting out of the “penalty”? Maybe as simple and similar to, “your time’s up, get off the ride”.

Now….do we have any evidence to say that the above is true? We do not. But do we have any evidence to say that the above is not true?
